Fans of matching games, take notice. There is a new kid on the block and he's about to show you how it's really done. Mad Caps may not be revolutionary in formula, but it adds enough style, charm, and overall pizzazz to cement itself as one of the greatest matching games of all time. Now, I may sound like I'm exaggerating, but please read on while I plead my case.

You know the formula: matching three same-colored pieces (in this case, bottle caps) will cause those pieces to disappear, counting towards your overall score. As you get rid of pieces, more fall in from the top, sometimes resulting in massive combos. Sure, it's a formula that is used a lot, but one that has proven over the years to be incredibly fun. What sets Mad Caps apart from the rest is the amount of style that the creators have injected into it.

The presentation here is among the best I've ever seen. The music is as catchy as it comes and has a real bubbly quality to it, fitting perfectly into the overall upbeat tone of the game. The visual style is something that has to be seen to be believed. The bottle caps give off a very nostalgic feel with names like 'Cherry Bomb Soda' and 'Grape Raz'; they seem like something that you would get from a corner diner in the sixties. The entire game uses bright, vibrant colors that really make it come alive. The presentation alone is just a fantastic thing to experience.

oftentimes in the game you will uncover bottle caps that have unique bonuses on the other side. These bonuses can be something simple like score multipliers, or something real wacky like a laser gun that shoots another cap. Each level comes with a bonus word that can be spelled out by letters that you find - you guessed it - on the underside of bottle caps. This definitely adds a level of surprise to a formula that may grow stale otherwise.

If you look really closely, you should be able to notice a particular shine on a cap that contains one of these bonuses. It's a good idea to match these caps whenever possible.

There are three game modes here for your pleasure: Classic, Arcade, and Survival.

Classic mode is perfect if you just feel like relaxing. There's no clock, so you're free to take your time beating the level. Simply fill the meter to the right by making matches and once it reaches the top you can proceed to the next round.
